Writing for the web

Do you write content for the company website or Facebook site? Are you responsible for writing content for online? Have you ever thought about how writing for online is different from writing for print? In our e-learning course writing for the web we cover the basics of preparing content for the internet. We look at how you writing for, what you are writing and the type of information that you need to cover. We also look at some of the legal issues that you need to think about.

The course is divided into 5 sections and covers:


Who are you writing for? – It’s very important that you have in mind who will be reading your words.

Why are you writing? – Think about what message you want to get across. For example, do you want to tell a story, get someone to join up, or encourage people to buy something?

What information do you need to include? – Think about the question words of your story: who, what, why, when, where and how.

Writing structure and style – You will learn about the importance of writing in ‘Plain English’ and also the best way to structure your content.

Legal issues – You need to keep to the law by not stealing other people’s content, causing offence, or giving away private information. Don’t worry this guide will show you how.

The course is self paced allowing learners to complete the course in their own time. We can offer access via our Learning Management System (LMS) or provide SCORM versions for deployment on your company LMS. Individual users may be interested in accessing our courses via Real Learner. Using our LMS you will be able to track learner progress and have obtain to our other e-learning courses.

The courses are all illustrated and work on Mac and PC.
