Monthly Technical Reading, Video and TV List
With the vast number of media channels available we thought that we
would share the magazines and websites that we read. If you are
interested in tech and game based learning you might find some of them
interesting:
Wired Magazine (UK) Version
After reading the US version for years we now have our own UK version
packed full of features on latest and future technology. It also
features some excellent writing, fantastic graphics and illustrations
that leads to a magazine that lasts more than a few hours.
EDGE
If you are interested in what the computer game industry reads and
thinks then pick up EDGE magazine. Alongside excellent reviews it has
also some excellent feature writing and takes you inside some of the
leading game studios across the world.
Make Magazine
Published by O’Reilly and costing $20 this is more than a book than a
magazine but this is pack full of ideas if you want to mix up
innovation, electronics, technology and engineering. Example project is
how to use twitter to control your heating system.
TED.com
The website contains an a massive resource of presentations from some of
the worlds thinkers. A favourite that still makes us smile is the Jonny
Lee Wii Controller hack. Enough content for you to watch a video a day
and still be amazed.
4 hour week
This book by Tim Ferris will make you laugh and also make you wonder at
the same time! If you are involved in production and project management
there will be something for you.
The Click
The BBC news program still comes up with a great round up of the weekly
technology news from around the world. Catch up on the iPlayer if you
can’t get the scheduled program.
